Our brains are wired to seek pleasure and avoid pain (mental, emotional, or physical) via the path of least resistance.

 

This means it's really easy for your brain to learn that food (or alcohol) creates a rapid, reliable, and effective sense of relief. 

 

This is emotional eating.

 

It’s a habit you learned, which means it’s a habit you can unlearn. 

 

But we have to be really honest with ourselves about what problem this habit is solving for us.

Because if it didn't solve a problem, you wouldn't continue to do it.
